7TH GLOBAL FORUM OF THE MILAN URBAN FOOD POLICY PACT

(hybrid event – Barcelona, Spain and online)

Food is at the heart of current and urgent global challenges, particularly the health, social, climate, and ecological emergencies. Food systems can be either a source of problems or a powerful trigger to unlock and advance transformative solutions for societies. The Covid-19 pandemic has had profound effects on our daily life revealing the fragility of our food system and has offered the opportunity for a shared reflection on its interdependent relationship with our Planet. As a matter of fact, the Covid-19 pandemic opened a window of opportunity to accelerate the transformation toward more resilient and sustainable food systems.

Barcelona is hosting the 7th MUFPP Global Forum between 19th – 21st October 2021, on the topic of Growing Resilience: Sustainable Food to tackle the Climate Emergency. The past year has been a challenging one. The 7th MUFPP Global Forum will be an excellent opportunity to (re)connect, exchange experiences, challenges, knowledge, and best practices, to inspire and get inspired with the shared goal of fixing our urban food systems while addressing the climate emergency.

Since the critical UN Climate Change Conference (COP26)  will be held in Glasgow in November 2021, the 7th MUFPP Global Forum in Barcelona becomes extremely strategic to raise cities’ voices on the food climate nexus. The Forum in  Barcelona will be the occasion for the launch of The Barcelona Challenge on Good Food and Climate. Drawing on the C40 Good Food Declaration and the Milan Urban Food Policy Pact Framework for Action, The Barcelona Challenge is an innovative tool and a call for cities to engage in the transformation of food systems to tackle the climate emergency.

FUSILLI will be represented as part of a joint session on 19 October at 9 AM together with its EU Horzion-2020 sister projects, focusing on co-creation of food policy solutions, by Giacomo Pettenati from the City of Turin.
