On the 7th of October 2024, the City of Oslo organized its annual food conference for the second time. About 200 employees who are involved in serving meals to children in kindergartens and schools attended and listened to informative and inspiring speeches about sustainable and healthy meals for children.

The Carrot
For the first time, the City of Oslo handed out an award to a public institution who sets an excellent example of sustainable and healthy public meals. The award is called “The Carrot” and this year the award went to the city district of Nordstrand who have been working on sustainable and healthy meals in kindergartens. Among others, they are careful to follow national dietary advice, they collaborate with the NGO “the Food Jungle” and hire people on work training as kitchen assistants.

The food conference was organized by Agency for Development and Improvement. Oslo’s food commission was the jury for the Carrot award. The jury work was lead by FUSILLI coordinator Line Ulberg Tveiten (Agency for Urban Environment).
