Result: Urban Lur: Farming the city with new agricultural entrepreneurs – San Sebastian

In the Altza district of San Sebastian, the Donostia Urban Lur project provides new farmers with access to agricultural plots in public land. They are equipped with a water supply, a 380 square metre greenhouse tunnel and access for mechanical tools. Fomento San Sebastian combines the access to land with the provision of training, coaching and organizes farmers’ market with a festival character.

The farmer’s market (Festival),  is part of the municipal strategy to promote km0 products and make them accessible to the citizens. These events facilitate connections between city farmers and farmers from the hinterland.

Farmers from Altza become members of Guztiona Cluster, benefiting from this network and other services. There they can share their visions and needs with other stakeholders from the food chain (i.e. restaurants or retailers).
